I'm Rin! I live in the Rocky Mountains with a dog and two cats, work from home, and am probably happiest surrounded by books, art, music, interesting little objects, and entirely too many things I've decided are pretty enough to need a place in my house.

My aesthetics are constantly at war with each other. Half the time I'm dark fairy witch, the other half I'm mildly grunge "it" girl, and apparently both are allowed to live here. My desk is aggressively pink and looks like it belongs in one of those aesthetic TikToks, while my office is covered floor-to-ceiling in anime posters, figures, and a couple ball-jointed dolls. The rest of the house is full of dragons, fairies, wizards, tapestries, astral prints, boho designs, unicorns, and various witchy things. There's also a statue of Aphrodite in my bedroom—I'm pagan (and a leo)—so really, subtlety was never an option.

I love reading, writing, art, cosplay, and the occasional cozy game or RPG. Fantasy romance is usually my weakness (yeah...I know), and I read a lot of Shojo manga too. Some favorites are My Dress-Up Darling, A Sign of Affection, and Fruits Basket. I like anime, although I don't watch it constantly; lately I've been watching things like Chainsaw Man, Frieren, and Witch Hat Atelier. I also play guitar—or rather, I'm relearning after an accident kept me from playing for nearly two decades.

I'm a bit of a maximalist and genuinely enjoy shopping, which means I'm forever trying to maintain the delicate balance between "pleasantly full of fascinating things" and "dear god, this is a hoarder's house." When I'm not happily nesting at home, I like long walks by the brook behind my place, yoga, rock climbing, swimming, wandering around old little shopping districts, and playing D&D with people I love. I'm the DM, which probably says something about me.

I have two college degrees in programming and experience with HTML, CSS, C++, and Java, although I also spent quite a while studying psychology. Psychology still fascinates me, especially the strange little mechanics behind why people think and behave the way they do. I'm intensely introspective and prone to analyzing my own thoughts, habits, flaws, and reactions in an attempt to understand myself better and become the sort of person I actually want to be. This can occasionally turn into me thinking about thinking about why I'm thinking something, which is probably a perfectly normal amount of thinking.

Anxiety makes me something of a homebody, but fortunately I really love being at home. I'm fairly shy too, although that's apparently a roll of the dice; sometimes I quietly lurk and sometimes I jump straight into a conversation like I've known everyone for years.

Writing has been part of my life for a long time. Back in the 2000s I spent years doing literate and novella-style forum roleplay and running RP sites, including Strawberry Panic: The Roleplay. I eventually stepped away for about a decade after a major life event, although apparently the writing bug never actually left. During that time I wrote a 120k+ word fanfic and started an original novel, which remains unfinished and mocking me from behind this very browser. I do not see it. I see nothing. My eyes are closed. I've recently started dipping my toes back into literate RP again, and it's been nice rediscovering something that used to mean so much to me.

And I suppose that's part of what this site is too. I wanted somewhere to put thoughts, photos, interests, little discoveries, and pieces of my life without all the noise and performance of modern social media. Social media without being terribly social, maybe.
